The new Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M681 Series joins its single-function siblings in HP’s lineup of devices targeted to larger offices. The M681 Series consist of four devices with a speed of up to 50ppm in black and 47ppm in color. They also include a 1.2GHz processor and 1.5GB of standard memory.

The Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M681 Series is a good buy for larger offices with high-volume printing needs that require multifunctional features and color output.
Features
All four printers include PCL and PostScript printing language. USB and Ethernet connectivity is standard, while wireless is optional. Direct mobile printing is optional. Users can download the HP ePrint, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Mopria-certified apps. Maximum memory is 2.5GB.
All printers include a standard 550-sheet tray, a 100-sheet multipurpose tray and a 150-sheet automatic document feeder. Optional paper handling features differ based on the configuration purchased. On the M681dh and Flow M681f, users can purchase up to two 550-sheet trays, a 550-sheet paper tray with stand and cabinet, three 550-sheet paper feeder and stand, or a 550-sheet tray plus 2,000-sheet high-capacity feeder.
A 500-sheet output bin is standard. Automatic duplexing is supported. There is a three-bin stapler/stacker available on the M681z only that includes offset job printing.
The scanning function includes scan-to-email, scan-to-network, scan-to-USB, and scan-to-Sharepoint. Acceptable file formats include PDF, JPEG and TIFF, to name a few. Additional scanning features include automatic color detection, blank page removal and automatic page orientation.
The faxing function includes a 33.6kbps modem with JBIG compression. Fax memory is 500 pages. Fax forwarding and Internet fax is supported.
The M681 Series ship with a 12,500-page black toner and 10,500-page (each color) toner cartridges. HP also offers optional high-yield cartridges. For our cost-per-page calculations, we’ve used the prices and yields of the high-yield cartridges (28,000 pages for black and 23,000 pages for each color). The cost per page is 1.1 cents for black and 0.07 cents for color. That is pretty remarkable, especially for color.
And finally, we’d like to note the HP Sure Start security feature that helps prevent any viruses, malware or other attacks. With the Sure Start feature, a printer can self-detect an attempted attack and if such an attack occurs, will reboot itself and send a notification to the IT administrator.
